Author\u2019s may send their articles which are prepared in accordance with the below stated publishing and editorial principles, together with the \u201carticle presentation form\u201d via e-mail to the provided addresses. \nProviding the permissions of the authors (the main author or the rightful publishing house) is obligatory for the translated texts and articles as well. \nThe articles which are sent to their authors for further improvement and\/ or proofreading following the preliminary reviews and referee evaluations, must be edited accordingly and delivered back to the journal in one month at the latest. \nOn the other hand, the articles which are found to be conflicting with this guideline, will be returned to their authors for further proofreading and will not be issued.<\/p>\n
Publishing Principles\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n Ayd\u0131n T\u00f6mer<\/b> is a national, peer-reviewed language journal which is printed twice a year for the purpose of releasing the scientific works that are prepared by all scientists directly or indirectly related to the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language. It is of first priority for the manuscripts to be an original \u2018research article\u2019 contributing to its field or a \u2018collection article\u2019 evaluating previous works in its field and expressing new and noteworthy views in this respect. In addition, evaluation articles from scientific books that are published in the related fields and book reviews are also within the scope of the journal\u2019s publication. Original articles translated into Turkish or English from a foreign language are also allowed in the journal provided that they contribute in the field with editorial board\u2019s decision and do not exceed one third of the journal. The permission letter from the author or the right owner of the original article is also required together with the translated manuscript in order for the translated manuscripts to be published. The journal only accepts articles which are not published or accepted to be published previously. Articles which are created from the reports that are not published but presented in a scientific gathering can be accepted provided that the case is clearly stated in the footnote.<\/p>\n Evaluation of the Articles and the Publishing Process\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n Scientific quality is the most important criteria in the evaluation of the articles for publishing. All the received articles are evaluated with respect to their eligibility for the journal publishing principles and qualifications by the editorial board. Editorial board reserves the right to decide whether or not to publish and\/ or emend the received article in case considered necessary. In result of the preliminary evaluation, the articles that are found to be unsuited for publishing are not evaluated and their authors are informed. The articles are returned to the authors for further revision and proofreading. The articles that are found to be suitable for publishing, on the other hand, are delivered to be evaluated to three different referees in the related field. The referees decide whether or not the article is suitable for publishing by evaluating it with respect to method, content and originality. Taking the referee reports that are received within the defined time frame into consideration, editorial board holds the decision-making authority for the publication of the articles. Informing the author, the eligible articles are scheduled. The identities of the referees are kept private and the reports are archived for five years. Following the publication of the article, three copies of the related issue of the journal is delivered to the author within a month.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The copyrights of the manuscripts which are accepted to be published following the evaluation process, are considered as transferred to Istanbul Aydin University. Thus the \u201carticle presentation form\u201d which includes a contract regarding the transfer of the copyrights to the journal, is also required to be filled and delivered along with the manuscripts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The scientific, ethic and legal responsibilities of the views and translations in the manuscripts which are published in the journal belong to their respective authors. The texts and photographs published in the journal may be cited. However, the published texts cannot be re-published in any other place (printed or online) without the written permission of the journal\u2019s editorial board. The author of the published text\/article reserves the right to copy the whole or a part of his work for his own purposed on the condition that he\/she indicates the text\/article is published in the journal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n By submitting their works to the journal, authors accept the above mentioned principles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Language of TOMER\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n The language of the journal is Turkish or English.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Writing Rules\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n I. Main Title\u2028 Written in bold letters, the main title must be congruent with the text content expressing the treated subject in the best way. The main title must not exceed 10-12 words of which initials must be capitalized.<\/p>\n II. Author\u2019s Name(s) and Address(es)\u2028 The name(s) and surname(s) of the authors must be typed in bold whereas the addresses must be typed in italic letters. If there are any, the title(s) and the workplace(s) of the authors as well as their contact information must be indicated on the first page with a footnote.<\/p>\n III. Abstract\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n The article must include an abstract in both English and Turkish (\u00f6zet) languages, which briefly and clearly summarizes the subject of the text and consists of at least 100 and at most 150 words. The abstract must not refer to the cited sources, figures and graphic numbers used in the text or contain footnotes. Authors must provide keywords consisting of at least 3 and at most 5 words leaving an empty line under the English and Turkish abstracts. The Turkish abstract must also have its title in Turkish.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n IV. Main Text\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n The text must be written with Times New Roman font-type, 12-point font size leaving 1,5 space between lines and 3 cm margins on top, bottom and both sides of an A4-sized (17x24 cm) MS Word page. The pages must be numbered. The text must not exceed 6000 (six thousand) words including its Turkish and English abstracts, figures and table contents. The parts of the text which are to be emphasized must be written either in italics (not in bold) or shown in single quotation marks (\u2018\u2019). The text must never contain double emphases using quotation marks and italics at the same time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n V. Sub-titles\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n The section and sub-titles may be preferred for delivering the information in an orderly way. All the section (regular) and sub (italics) titles must be written in 12- point size, bold characters, capitalizing only the initial letters of each word in the title. Sub-titles must not be followed by a colon (:) and the text must begin after an empty line.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n VI. Tables and Figures\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n Tables must be prepared according to black and white printing with a title and number. Tables and figures must be numbered separately. Tables must not be drawn with vertical lines; horizontal lines, on the other hand, must only be used for categorizing the sub-titles within the table. The number of the table must be indicated above the table, on left side, in regular fonts; the title of the table must be written in italics capitalizing the initials of each word. Tables must be located in their proper places within the text.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u2192 Example: Tablo 1: <\/i><\/b>Farkl\u0131 yakla\u015f\u0131mlar\u0131n kar\u015f\u0131la\u015ft\u0131rmal\u0131 analizi\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The numbers and the titles of the figures must be centered just below the figure. The number of the figure must be in italics followed by a full stop (.). Right after comes the title of the figure in regular fonts with only the initial letter capitalized.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n VII. Visuals\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n The images, photographs or special drawings included within the text must be scanned in 300 ppi (300 pixels per inch) with a 10 cm short edge in JPEG format. In addition to the article and the \u201carticle presentation form\u201d, all the visual materials used in the text must be e-mailed to the provided addresses in JPEG format. The online sourced images must also comply with 10 cm\/300 ppi rule. Visuals must be titled according to the criteria specified for tables and figures (item VI) above. Technically problematic or low-quality images may be requested from the contributor again or may be completely removed from the article by the editorial board. Author(s) are responsible for the quality of the visual materials to be used in their articles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The images and photographs must be prepared according to black and white printing. The titles and the numbers of the visuals must be centered and typed in italics. The type of the visual and its number must be typed in italics followed by a full stop (.) and the name of the image typed in regular fonts with capital initials:<\/p>\n \u2192 Example: Resim 10<\/i>. Wassily Kandinsky, \u2018Kompozisyon\u2019 (Anna- Carola Krausse, 2005: 91).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The pages containing figures, charts and images must not exceed 10, with only occupying one third of the text. If possible, authors may place the figures, charts and images where they are supposed to be providing that it will be prepared as ready to be published, if not they can write the numbers of the figures, charts and images leaving empty space in the text in the same size.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n VIII. Footnotes\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n Footnotes must only be used for additional explanatory information with automatic numbering. Footnotes must not be used for citation or giving references.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n IX. Al\u0131nt\u0131 ve G\u00f6ndermeler\/At\u0131flar\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n Authors must give references for all their direct or indirect quotes according to the examples given below. In case not specified here, authors must consult APA 6th edition referencing and citation style.
